At Urban Eyecare, we take a personalized approach to eye care. From the exam room to frame and lens selection, we ensure to keep your individual needs in mind. We believe that vision is beyond just seeing 20/20, and we strive to excel in all realms of vision care. Our eye specialists & optometrist take the time at the end of your eye exam to educate you about all health findings and ensures to give her recommendations for the best lens choice that would cater to your needs. Our opticians help you select the frame styles that are recommended for your prescription while keeping your personal style in mind!

Our Doctors

Dr. Palki Arora, BHSc, OD, FCOVD, FAAO

Dr. Arora’s primary interest lies in complete family care, with a special interest in pediatric optometry. Dr. Arora graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree with Honours from the University of Calgary and a Doctor of Optometry Degree on the Dean's Honours List from the University of Waterloo. She subsequently completed post-doctorate studies including two Fellowships in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD) and the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). She is one of few optometrists across Canada to have completed these fellowships and her goal is to stay up-to-date on all optometric research to provide the best and most thorough care for her patients of all ages.

Dr. Arora is a Board-Certified Development Optometrist and is actively involved in providing Vision Therapy for children and adults, which consists of eye exercises employed to treat conditions such as lazy eye, eye movement dysfunctions, eye focussing dysfunctions and eye teaming dysfunctions. She also has a special interest in Dry Eye Disease, and stays updated on the latest technologies and treatment options for this common and chronic condition. Dr. Arora is president of the Calgary Society of Optometrists and is an active member of the Alberta College of Optometrists and the Alberta Association of Optometrists. In her free time, she enjoys staying fit, swimming, trying different cuisines and spending time with her family and friends. Dr. Arora welcomes the opportunity to meet new patients and their families. She provides eye exams in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.

Dr. Huong Huynh, BSc, OD

Dr. Huong Huynh’s educational background includes: a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. She completed her disease and ocular therapeutics training in Florida, where she had the opportunity to work with optometrists and opthalmologists, including: vitreo-retinal, cataract and oculo-plastic specialists.

Dr. Huynh has volunteered on eye care missions in Romania and hopes to continue to help communities locally and internationally. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Alberta Association of Optometrists. Outside of optometry, she enjoys live music, reading, photography and spending time with her family.

Dr Huynh has a special interest in pediatric optometry, myopia control, speciality contact lens fittings, and dry eye management. Dr. Huynh is passionate about thorough patient care and believes that there is no single approach that is right for every individual. She is excited to meet and care for you and your family.

Dr. Dianna Leong, OD

Dr. Leong graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1994 and continues to practice as an optometrist in Calgary. Her favourite part of her career is seeing her patients (and their kids) in private practice grow with her over the years. Their eye exams are tailored to help educate patients to optimize their vision and eye health over their lifetime. For over 20 years, she has been a practice owner and operator in different locations (Calgary downtown, Olds, Marlborough area, then founder of a practice in Country Hills area). She sold the practice in 2021 for family reasons and is pleased to join the Urban Eyecare group practice on a part-time basis.

Dr. Leong continues to offer proactive eyecare, with special interests in diabetes prevention and myopia control. Over the past 20 years, she has enjoyed serving with the Optometry Examiners Board of Canada, honing her skills as an exam item writer or examiner for the Licensing Board exams. She was previously president of the Calgary Society of Optometrists, and is also part of a local mobile eyecare team to travel to those who have difficulty accessing eye care (e.g. seniors homes, Afghan, Ukrainian refugees). The eyes are the lamp of the body, and Dr. Leong believes in minimizing barriers to eye care to anyone in need. Dr. Leong participates in volunteer activities in Air Cadets and Church, and enjoys caregiving and outings with the family.

Dr. Milena Opacic, BSc, OD

Dr. Milena Opacic was born and raised in Calgary, AB and completed her undergraduate degree in Natural Sciences at the University of Calgary. Her passion for eye care led her to Chicago where she completed her doctorate degree at the Illinois College of Optometry. During her time at ICO, Dr. Opacic was exposed heavily to ocular diseases. She completed several internships in South Bend, IN, San Diego, CA and at a VA clinic in Columbia, SC with emphasis on ocular disease, family eye care, dry eye and contact lenses. During her time in school Dr. Opacic went on a SVOSH mission trip in St. Lucia providing eye care to the community of Castries. Upon graduation Dr. Opacic worked in a corporate practice in Florida.

Dr. Opacic has special interest in ocular disease as well as dry eye treatments, myopia management and contact lenses. Dr. Opacic is passionate in advanced dry eye treatments such as IPL and amniotic membranes.

Outside of clinic Dr. Opacic enjoys travelling, trying new restaurants and spending time with friends and family. She can provide eye exams in English, Serbian and Croatia.

Dr. Gaganjeet Tamber, OD

Dr. Gaganjeet Tamber was born and raised in Calgary. He completed his undergraduate studies in biological sciences at the University of Calgary before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree in 2016 from the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. During his education, Dr. Tamber completed externships across Boston and Miami, gaining experience in primary care, low vision, geriatric care, and ocular disease.

Dr. Tamber's primary focus is in comprehensive primary care optometry, with a special interest in soft contact lenses. He joined the Urban Eye Care team in 2025 and is dedicated to providing exceptional eye care to the community. Fluent in both English and Punjabi, Dr. Tamber is pleased to offer eye examinations in either language.

Outside of work, Dr. Tamber enjoys playing hockey, working out, traveling to new destinations, and experimenting with cooking diverse cuisines. A self-proclaimed foodie, he also loves exploring Calgary’s vibrant local food scene and attending live music events. These activities keep him energized and balanced, allowing him to bring his best self to patient care.

The doctor was very knowledgable and kind. I felt that my exam was very thorough and she explained why I was experiencing issues with my sight. The staff at the front were so nice and helped me pick out my first pair of glasses. They looked up my coverage for me and took care of the direct billing.My glasses seemed pricey but I have no idea what is normal. I would recommend this place for the service!!read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I work close to Urban Eyewear so decided to check them out. Eye exam was VERY comparably priced to Costco and others. Eye dilation is covered under Alberta health care (Which I know my mom was just charged extra at her optometrist for the dilation) Roxana and Dr Marsh are awesome. Roxana was very helpful in helping me find the right pair and such a sweet heart she is!!!!!! I will keep my business at URBAN EYEWEAR FOR SURE!read more

I brought back a pair of very expensive Maui Jim’s because I had scratched them and then the scratch had turned into a crack. They recommended that I send them back to the factory to see if it was a manufacturer defect. A few weeks later, I got the call and picked up what I think was a brand new pair. Although it cost me 15 dollars for shipping, it was definitely worth it! The service was great, and I would definitely go here again for all my eye care needs.read more

So this is a local shop for me and I love it! They are so friendly, helpful and kind. I went in to look for Maui Jim Sunglasses. They didn't have the color I liked so they sat me down and went on the computer and customized sunglasses for me! This was on a Tuesday and by Thursday they had called and they were in! Went and picked them up in a pretty bag with a full size glass cleaner! I'm definately going to be using them for my kids and my eye checkups! Great service and Great people!!read more
