Our Doctors
Dr. Arora’s primary interest lies in complete family care, with a special interest in pediatric optometry. Dr. Arora graduated with a Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree with Honours from the University of Calgary and a Doctor of Optometry Degree on the Dean's Honours List from the University of Waterloo. She subsequently completed post-doctorate studies including two Fellowships in the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (FCOVD) and the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO). She is one of few optometrists across Canada to have completed these fellowships and her goal is to stay up-to-date on all optometric research to provide the best and most thorough care for her patients of all ages.
Dr. Arora is a Board-Certified Development Optometrist and is actively involved in providing Vision Therapy for children and adults, which consists of eye exercises employed to treat conditions such as lazy eye, eye movement dysfunctions, eye focussing dysfunctions and eye teaming dysfunctions. She also has a special interest in Dry Eye Disease, and stays updated on the latest technologies and treatment options for this common and chronic condition. Dr. Arora is president of the Calgary Society of Optometrists and is an active member of the Alberta College of Optometrists and the Alberta Association of Optometrists. In her free time, she enjoys staying fit, swimming, trying different cuisines and spending time with her family and friends. Dr. Arora welcomes the opportunity to meet new patients and their families. She provides eye exams in English, Hindi, Punjabi, and Urdu.
Dr. Huong Huynh’s educational background includes: a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo. She completed her disease and ocular therapeutics training in Florida, where she had the opportunity to work with optometrists and opthalmologists, including: vitreo-retinal, cataract and oculo-plastic specialists.
Dr. Huynh has volunteered on eye care missions in Romania and hopes to continue to help communities locally and internationally. She is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Alberta Association of Optometrists. Outside of optometry, she enjoys live music, reading, photography and spending time with her family.
Dr Huynh has a special interest in pediatric optometry, myopia control, speciality contact lens fittings, and dry eye management. Dr. Huynh is passionate about thorough patient care and believes that there is no single approach that is right for every individual. She is excited to meet and care for you and your family.
Dr. Cherian is an optometrist dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care with a special interest in vision therapy to a diverse patient population.
While at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) she gained experience in managing patients of varied ages and visual needs. She pursued a residency in Pediatrics and Vision Therapy in Stonewall, Manitoba where she took a special interest in the traumatic brain injury population.
Dr, Cherian’s approach to optometry is empathy-driven and patient-centred, forming close bonds with patients and the people of her community. Dr. Cherian joined Urban Eyecare in 2024 after moving from Lloydminster to Calgary. She is a proud member of the Alberta Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Leong graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1994 and continues to practice as an optometrist in Calgary. Her favourite part of her career is seeing her patients (and their kids) in private practice grow with her over the years. Their eye exams are tailored to help educate patients to optimize their vision and eye health over their lifetime. For over 20 years, she has been a practice owner and operator in different locations (Calgary downtown, Olds, Marlborough area, then founder of a practice in Country Hills area). She sold the practice in 2021 for family reasons and is pleased to join the Urban Eyecare group practice on a part-time basis.
Dr. Leong continues to offer proactive eyecare, with special interests in diabetes prevention and myopia control. Over the past 20 years, she has enjoyed serving with the Optometry Examiners Board of Canada, honing her skills as an exam item writer or examiner for the Licensing Board exams. She was previously president of the Calgary Society of Optometrists, and is also part of a local mobile eyecare team to travel to those who have difficulty accessing eye care (e.g. seniors homes, Afghan, Ukrainian refugees). The eyes are the lamp of the body, and Dr. Leong believes in minimizing barriers to eye care to anyone in need. Dr. Leong participates in volunteer activities in Air Cadets and Church, and enjoys caregiving and outings with the family.
